A Step Towards an Inclusive Society: Kyiv Classic Orchestra Completes the "Symphony of Ukrainian Fairy Tales"

For more than five months, the social project "Symphony of Ukrainian Fairy Tales" took place, during which Kyiv Classic Orchestra held 10 inclusive and interactive events for children with disabilities and youngsters who suffered physical and mental trauma as a result of the war.

Several hundred little kids attended these interactive performances, which were held at the Ohmatdyt Hospital, the Kyiv City State Administration, the Kyiv City Center for the Rehabilitation of Children with Disabilities, the Shevchenkivskyi District Territorial Center in Kyiv, the Mykola Verikovsky Kyiv Children's School of Arts No. 2, and other venues.

The "Symphony of Ukrainian Fairy Tales" received numerous positive reviews from both children and adults - parents, doctors, teachers, and specialists who work with children with disabilities.

The positive impact on the children was confirmed by Maryna Khonda, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, who actively supported the entire project.

"Sometimes children react differently to loud music and interactive elements, but everything went wonderfully. I spoke with the mothers who were present, and they were very pleased. Right now, mental health requires attention, and we all need positive emotions, so events like these are a huge benefit for both children and adults. I hope this project will continue. The orchestra that gave us this music is made up of extraordinary professionals. We are deeply grateful to them for this!", - said Maryna Khonda.

Kyiv Classic Orchestra also hopes the project will continue, as it represents an important step towards creating an inclusive society.

"In essence, this is an example of barrier-free access to cultural products, which is a very important task for Ukrainian society today", - said the project’s author, Herman Makarenko.

The project was made possible through a grant from the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
