Hedva Ser and Herman Makarenko collaborate on a video to spread a message of peace
UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and Special Envoy for Cultural Diplomacy Hedva Ser, and UNESCO Artist for Peace Herman Makarenko collaborated on a video to spread a message of unity during these difficult times as the covid-19 pandemic is spreading.
On 31 March, two members of UNESCO’s family of Goodwill Ambassadors along with the composer Pierre Sebaoun, created the Anthem of the Tree of Peace, based on Hedva Ser’s sculpture. The orchestra composition and arrangement were done by Cyrille Lehn, and the video’s text was done by Smaïn Fairouze.
This video’s text is faithful to the symbolism of the Tree of Peace according to which we must seek peace between peoples and understanding between nations.
The collaboration serves as a testament to the power of artistic expression, and UNESCO’s promotion of intercultural dialogue and social inclusion as vehicles for a culture of peace.
The video’s concert was directed by the Ukrainian conductor Herman Makarenko, UNESCO Artist for Peace engaged in promoting music as a vehicle for dialogue and mutual understanding through the performances of the Kyiv-Classic Orchestra.
