Pushkin Ball ... Closing your eyes, you conjure up the young poet, full of energy and creative ideas, who is lightly heading to his destiny. Beautiful Natalia Goncharova standing aside and waiting for an invitation. And now their eyes met, and hands warmly are woven into waltz that opens the autumn ball. The whirlpool of endless motions, amazing sense of intimacy, of first kisses grabs and raises over the entire world: nothing in the world matters right now...

Pushkin_Ball_01_2011_(small)The sounds of Tchaikovsky’s polonaise performed by the Orchestra of the National Opera of Ukraine inform about the opening of first Pushkin Ball in Ukraine. Svyatoslav Belza starts this evening with solemn speech. The first waltz. As it was in the XIX century the ball traditionally opens with output of debutants - unmarried girls and not married men. Forty young beauties in exquisite white dresses and as many gentlemen in black dress-coats and uniforms begin to spin under the magic sounds of the famous "Waltz of the Flowers" from Tchaikovsky's ballet "The Nutcracker".

The conductor - Honoured Artist of Ukraine Maestro Herman Makarenko. It was he who had the honor to open the ball. Tall in a white dress-coat with a conductor's baton in his hand he came to this holiday as if from the golden age epoch. "Everybody Waltz!" - gives a command the dancing-master Stanislav Popov and music of Strauss family obeys the orchestra, which with the consent of Maestro gives it to all present at the evening. The Ball is in full swing. Maestro Herman Makarenko gladly passes the conductor's stand to his colleague conductor - Honoured Artist of Russia Viktor Lutsenko. Different schools, different approaches - but it only multiplies the pleasure of the audience from the excellent work of the orchestra.

Around midnight, the orchestra completes to radiate its magic melodies. Two maestros with the orchestra of the National Opera bow to the audience and loud applause accompany conductors with hope for a new holiday and for a new wonderful night.
